Budgeting: Curbing Retail Therapy
So since my birthday comes and then it’s all the holidays, I’ve really been over-spending and over-treating myself. I just pulled some tips that seemed the most applicable and helpful for me.
just an update
I’ve tried two out of three and they both helped. I made my no spending day Monday, and I just had my first one. It was extremely hard. I had so much I thought I needed b/c I’ve been away. I really panicked. I even tried to convince myself to change the day, but the logic I used convinced me otherwise. Monday comes with so much anxiety that I probably end up overspending the most. It really forces me to think through my purchases.
I might add in another no spending day, probably Thursday.
I also like the 48hr rule a lot. Or even just getting into the habit of asking myself why I need this item and making sure the answers are legitimate - Maybe include the 48hr rule by sleeping on it still
I don’t think I’ll use the last one.
My anxiety probably cant deal with putting in credit card info etc every time.
